Allergic rhinitis and asthma are closely linked diseases which are very prevalent within the population, affecting millions. They are both characterized by chronic airway inflammation. They are often present in the same patients and rhinitis is even considered an independent risk factor for asthma. Treating allergic rhinitis can reduce the severity of asthma.
