Modern reading experts believe that the fundamental goal of a good reading program is to instill in today\u27s children a love of reading. One basic requisite of the primary reading program is a wide variety of easy reading material that a child can read and enjoy freely and naturally just as an adult does. Interesting, attractive books are provided in abundance for young readers by the publishers of children\u27s books. However, there is a great deal of evidence to show that many of these books are introduced from one to three years before the average student has the background experience and reading ability required for their appreciation.
