The thirties was a rough decade for our nation\u27s history. It was a time of Great Depression when the stock market crashed in 1929. The crash led to major inflation and scarcity of jobs all over the United States. Picher, Oklahoma was in need of operational mines during this time. The people there would do whatever it would take to keep their jobs. This became so extreme that people in the community began not taking care of their homes, keeping good hygiene, and using proper safety precautions. The town seemed to lack education to the outside world. Many today are trying to uncover what kind of education was being taught in the community on health, hygiene, and leadership skills.
