For the last five years, psychology trainee has been my primary identity. For the last three years, my training has occurred within the context of psychiatric inpatient units. From a trainee\u27s perspective, I plan to explore several themes and challenges that are inherent to employment in psychiatric inpatient environments and discuss the impact that such challenges have on trainee psychologists. I will also propose resilience as a protective factor for trainees and will outline several characteristics of resilience that have helped promote my growth as a burgeoning psychologist in an environment that lends itself to burnout, compassion fatigue, and caregiver stress.
