Applications of a Behavior-Based Safety Program to Environmental Consulting

Traditional safety programs measure incidents, accidents and other lagging indicators to calculate success, but those statistics do not indicate that workers are actually working safely. Integration of a behavior-based safety approach and development of a strong safety culture are critical to the success of a revitalized safety program for my company and its many employees who perform tasks without direct oversight of management or safety personnel. Behavior-based safety (BBS) is a viable method to complement and build upon my company\u27s existing safety program, but cannot be applied to an environmental consulting environment in the same way BBS is utilized in other industries. Successful BBS methods must be integrated with the existing corporate program to develop a world-class safety program
