According to the CDC, around 1 in 59 children are currently being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in America (CDC, 2014). When a family has a child diagnosed with autism it can be a very confusing and challenging time as they attempt to navigate through different intervention and treatment options. Using archival research, I looked into two different types of interventions: Applied Behavioral Analysis pioneered by Ivar Lovaas, and Equine Therapy a newer and developing intervention.
