Becky J. Murray

Becky Murray is the chief for the Technical Performance and Integration Division in the Engineering Directorate at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As the division chief, she leads a large team responsible for end-to-end engineering products of all design and development projects. Murray is the primary contact for negotiating and partnering with customers and Kennedy programs and projects for Engineering support, budget, and schedule necessary for the baseline and completion of each project. Prior to her appointment to the senior executive service, Murray was the deputy chief, Exploration Systems and Operations Division in the Engineering Directorate at Kennedy, where she was responsible for ensuring quality electrical engineering products and services were delivered to all Kennedy programs and projects. Murray began her career with NASA in 1992 as a co-op engineer for the Space Shuttle Program (SSP). During her 19-year tenure with the SSP, Murray led several teams. She was chief of the Launch Vehicle Processing Directorate\u27s Ground Projects Branch from 2005 to 2007 and chief of the Project Engineering Integration Division from 2007 to 2011. She also acted as the associate director of Launch Vehicle Processing from 2009 to 2010, assisting the director with the management and oversight of all space shuttle processing and launch operations at Kennedy. Prior to her SSP leadership roles, Murray worked with the shuttle\u27s communications and tracking systems, hazardous gas detection systems, external tank and solid rocket boosters. After the successful retirement of the SSP, she joined NASA’s Commercial Crew Program (CCP) in 2011. In this role, she was the manager of Launch and Recovery Systems for CCP. Murray helped NASA develop the next United States-led capability for crew transportation and rescue services to and from the International Space Station and other low-Earth orbit destinations. She provided proficient leadership and expertise in ground and recovery operations systems, processes and products. In 2013, Murray joined Kennedy’s Human Resources Office (HRO) on a developmental assignment as the deputy director. After one year in the position, she accepted the increased responsibility of the acting director of the HRO. She was responsible for developing, leading and implementation of human resources policy and services, including workforce planning, training and career development, and management services to ensure optimum utilization of the workforce in accomplishing NASA\u27s mission. Murray has received several professional honors throughout her career, including a NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 2009, NASA Space Flight Awareness Leadership Award in 2010, Kennedy Quality and Safety Achievement Recognition in 2011 and a NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal in 2015. She was awarded a Kennedy Equal Opportunity Award in 2011 for leadership and contributions to enhance professional growth among minorities and encouraging diversity throughout the workplace. Murray also recently was honored with her selection to participate in the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program (SESCDP). Murray earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 1995. She grew up along Florida\u27s Space Coast in Melbourne, graduated from Eau Gallie High School in 1988, and is a second-generation NASA-Kennedy employee.
