Experimental electronic music recordings in 5.1 surround sound delivers an immersive listening experience not available through traditional stereo recordings. Through the use of digital technology in the modern recording studio, the composer has the ability to create both real and imagined places in spaces. The listening environment plays an important role when designing and composing work in 5.1 surround. Being able to control visual information during a listening session can reduce the amount of distraction from the auditory experience. The planetarium allowed for the creation of a totally dark space. These compositions will to take the listener on a journey to and through imagined places and spaces
