Black Bear Men\u27s Choir

The University of Maine Black Bear Men\u27s Chorus (BBC) was established this past September. There are currently 25 members in the group, representing UMaine students, faculty and staff as well as individuals from the surrounding community. The BBC operates under the auspices of the School of Performing Arts (Prof. Dennis Cox, Director of Choral Activities). However, the group does not yet receive departmental funding and is not a for-credit class. All-male choirs and glee clubs enjoy long and rich traditions throughout the US and the world (the oldest collegiate choir is a men\u27s glee club). Yet the opportunity to be involved with men\u27s choral singing at UMaine or the immediate area is extremely limited. Prior to this semester, a similar-type men\u27s choir had not existed at UMaine for almost 60 years
