The aim of this paper is to evaluate the throughput and delay performance of IEEE802.11 WLANs using different network performance monitoring tools. It also shows detailed procedure on how to use these network monitoring tools (NetStress, Wireshark and Jperf) to monitor a real time network.nbsp The study was carried out to establish the effects of varying the number of work stations against the network performance in a real WLAN environment.nbsp The result shows that maximum throughput and minimum delay can only be achieved in the non saturated case, that is, it is dependent on the number of active nodes
