The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that a stage-matched intervention will increase student smokers\u27 readiness to quit smoking and progress in stage of behavior change. Forty-one University of Maine students, who were current smokers aged 18-24 years old, were recruited to participate in the study and were systematically divided into the experimental group and the control group.
