Building Global Community: Connecting International and Domestic Students

Multiculturalism is an integral part of counseling profession. International students studying at American institutions is one important topic within this broad subject. In this roundtable discussion, two students, one international and one domestic, will explore a question that has arisen out of their own experiences and observations: How can International and domestic students connect on a personal level with mutual benefit, and what holds them back from doing so? College campuses with International and domestic students are a microcosm of the macrocosm: our global community. It is here, in academia, where an example can be set, showing how people from diverse cultures can form alliances around issues common to all of humanity – belonging, connection, inclusion, and respect
