Developmental enamel defects (DED) have been defined as alterations in dental enamel’s structure. Aim: This study is aimed at stablishing the prevalence of DED and its relation with the predisposing factors among children aged 6-13 years attending a public educational institution located in Ate Vitarte (Lima, Peru). Materials and Methods: It was a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and prospective study. A total of 323 children, both male and female, were assessed using the Index DED Modified as well as the Dean's Index. Besides, a survey to their parents was conducted in order to associate these defects with their predisposing factors such as breastfeeding, common newborn problems, among others.
