The teacher - student relationship inside the classroom as a space of ethical formation in the University

The present article is the synthesis of an investigation realized during the second year of studies of the PHD program of "Education and democracy" of the University of Barcelona, which had as main aim to explore the relationship teacher-student inside the class as a space of ethical formation in the university. It starts by raising some theoretical considerations on the ethical formation and on the teacher-student relationship, for then contextualize them within the university area.. This way, having recognized education as an inevitably ethical event, it indicates that education in values not only is given across the formal areas of the educational institutions but also from it’s formal and informal areas. Once having put attention in these less planned spaces of moral formation, the need to appeal to values experience is enhanced to achieve that ethical learning becomes really significant. From these ideas, the interpersonal area, and specifically the teacher–student relationship inside the classroom, appears as a space of ethical formation that needs to be taken in advantage, even more at the university, where education in values is raised from isolated subjects that prioritize conceptual contents. Finally, they present methodological aspects of the investigation and some commentaries about the results obtained from it.This work reflects upon the use of the 'microlearning' technique in the teacher's learning proccess. The experience of microlearning in UPC is developed as part of the proccess of induction that 'Quality Education Department' (Departamento de Calidad Educativa) gives to the new teachers. The results of the term 2006-02 of the analysis of the 'teachers skills' in the microlearning are shown and the possibilities that this technique offers are disscussed. This helps the new teachers to reinforce their pedagogical skills and to understand and work under the Educational Model of the UPC. At the same time it gives and accepts feedback so that the teacher can continue to complement their pedagogical learning.ovelez@upc.edu.peEl presente artículo es la síntesis de una investigación realizada durante el segundo año de estudios del programa de doctorado “Educación y Democracia” de la Universidad de Barcelona, cuyo objetivo fue explorar la relación profesor-alumno como espacio de formación ética en la universidad. Empieza planteando algunas consideraciones teóricas sobre la formación ética y sobre la relación profesor-alumno, para luego contextualizarlas en el ámbito universitario. Así, al reconocer a la educación como un acontecimiento inevitablemente ético, señala que la educación en valores no solo se da a través de los ámbitos formales de las instituciones educativas sino también a partir de sus ámbitos no formales e informales. Al poner atención en estos espacios menos planificados de la formación moral, se realza la necesidad de apelar a la experiencia de los valores para lograr que el aprendizaje ético sea realmente significativo. A partir de estas ideas, el ámbito interpersonal, y de forma específica la relación profesor-alumno en el aula, aparece como un espacio de formación ética a ser aprovechado, más aún en la universidad, donde se tiende a plantear la educación en valores desde asignaturas aisladas que priorizan contenidos conceptuales.
