This examination of the economic experiences of long-term divorced women finds that in the initial years of divorce economic well-being declines by more than 30 percent and remains at that same low level, a more serious decline than suggested in other studies. This study, unlike others, follows a cohort over time and uses the last three years of marriage as its basis for comparison.
