Summarization: A finite element analysis for the approximation of the dynamic response of laminate composite plates with piezoelectric layers is presented. The formulation is based on the classical plate theory and Hamilton’s principle. The active control of the plate is studied using both the optimal linear quadratic regulator strategy and the robust H∞ control theory.
