Fall Watcher : a fall detection system for Android

Pessoas idosas que sofrem uma queda, na maioria dos casos, precisam de atendimento médico urgente. Devido a isso, a demora desse atendimento pode agravar a situação do idoso, e, em alguns casos, levar a óbito. Nessa situação, sistemas de detecção de quedas avisam uma pessoa quando uma queda é detectada, agilizando o atendimento médico do idoso. Esse trabalho apresenta o desenvolvimento de um aplicativo Android para detecção de quedas. O algoritmo é baseado em valores limitantes e utiliza dados do acelerômetro do smartphone. Em termos de desempenho, os resultados mostraram que o algoritmo consegue distinguir quedas de atividades diárias em diferentes conjuntos de dados de atividades humanas com o smartphone no bolso da calça do usuário.Elderly people who suffer a fall, in most cases, need urgent medical care. Due to this, the delay of care can aggravate the situation of the elderly, and in some cases, lead to death. In this situation, fall detection systems warn a person when a fall is detected, speeding up the medical care of the elderly. This paper presents the development of an Android application for fall detection. The algorithm is based on thresholds values and uses the smartphone accelerometer data.
