After some general introductory material, the weakness of the fireball/fire streak model is illustrated, and it is indicated that more complex models are both necessary and available. The single-particle spectra of nucleons, clusters, and pions are discussed, and then attention is focused on the fate of the target nucleus and possible evidence of collective phenomena. Finally, data on central collisions that reflect the nature of the energy flux in the target nucleus are discussed. 26 figures. (RWR
