Two problems that require a more detailed description of the interaction between particles and a radiation field than is provided by the Boltzmann equation are considered. An electron-photon collision term is introduced and applied to saturation in the cyclotron radiation maser, illustrating the electron momentum distribution relaxation by cyclotron emission and absorption. Also, the photon transport equations that govern photon scattering by electrons and plasmons when the radiation field is non-thermal and intense enough to enhance the scattering are derived and evaluated.
