A set of 55 experiments hss been outiined to provide a minimum irradiation program for selection of UO/sub 2/, pellet geometry and fabricntion techniques, and canning technology. These experiments fall into three catagories: prototype: untts in which radial dimension and heat fluxes sre close to proposed design values, but irradiation times are long; reduced-size prototype for accelerated tests in which most variables will be studied; and miniaurized pellet irradiation to obtain high burnup for fission gas release studies.
