Improved Synthesis for Modular Ascarosides Uncovers Biological Activity

A versatile synthesis of modular ascarosides, a family of signaling molecules from Caenorhabditis elegans and other nematodes, via hydrogenolysis of a cyclic sulfate derived from methyl-α-l-rhamnopyranoside is reported.
