Thank you.Problem and Limits: The problem of this dissertation is to compare the theories of self developed in the writings of the religious educators William C. Bower and Randolph c. Miller and developed in the writings of the psychologists Erik H. Erikson, George H. Mead, Gordon W. Allport, and Arthur W. Combs and Donald Snygg. Bower and Miller were chosen because of their contributions to the literature, to the training of religious workers, and to the leading professional organizations. Erikson, Mead, Allport, and Combs and Snygg were selected because their writings have been influential in educational theory and because each represents one of four interpretations of the self frequently found in contemporary psychological thought.
