Poster presented at the American Association of Physical Anthropologists Meeting, Durham, North Carolina, April 14, 1996Disease is recognized as a critical factor that can affect primate behavior, yet few methods allow for the quantification of disease states in wild primates. This paper reports on the use of urinary test strips to detect the presence of disease and monitor physiological status in wild orangutans . Urine was collected from wild orangutans at Gunung Palung National Park, Indonesian Borneo, between August 1994 and August 1995.
