New Orleans: Police Superintendent Clarence Giarrusso (R) urges a friend of the Black Panthers barricaded in a unit of the Desire Project to persuade them 11/19 to come out and face only a misdemeanor charge. Giarrusso, who led over a hundred officers into the area in anticipation of a battle similar to the Police-Panther shootout nearby 9/15/70, later agreed to a 24-hour delay while the criminal trespass charge could be given a court test by Panther lawyers.https://digitalcommons.chapman.edu/upi_african_american/1224/thumbnail.jp
