Working memory is an information processing theory of memory proposed by Baddeley (1986). Several working memory tasks have been developed to differentially predict the performance of learning disabled and typical students\u27 achievement. However, many of these tasks require complex academic skills that would appear to penalize learning disabled students by assessing them in the area of their disability. The purpose of this study was to examine two working memory tasks that could predict academic achievement and membership in either a typical-achieving or reading-disabled group.
