In the electrical engineering problem such as determination of capacitance between conductors, the maximum gradient in insulation, the acceleration force on an electron moving in an electronic apparatus, a complete knowledge of the electrostatic field is always necessary for further analysis. The electrostatic field, characterized by a vector quantity called field strength at any point, is caused and determined by electric charge distribution.
