A Study of the Effectiveness of the Three Year Homemaking Program at Brookings High School as Evidenced by Graduates who have Established Homes, with Implications for Curriculum Revision

Homemaking education, like all other phases of education must be appraised, evaluated and revised at intervals in order that one may be reasonably sure that it is accomplishing what it purports to do. One purpose is to help girls to assume happily and successfully their inevitable roles as wives and mothers in the fast changing society. The purpose of this study was to have graduates of Brookings High School, who have taken three years of Homemaking, evaluate the course offerings to determine the effectiveness of the program in the light of help and confidence given the girls in their roles as homemakers; to determine what should be included or deleted; to find where to place emphasis so that time can be used to best advantage and experiences can be more profitable; and to study needs and receive suggestions for adult education
