This thesis investigates the use of Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA) in predicting sound generation and attenuation within a rectangular duct containing a swept helical coil. CAA is a field that has seen significant growth in recent years respective of the increase in computer resources and the advancement of commercially available computational fluid dynamic (CFD) solvers. CAA research is focused on the development of numerical simulations of acoustic sources and radiation from timedependent flow phenomena. Generally, these numerical simulations are achieved by solving the full transient compressible Navier-Stokes equations.
