In this paper, results are reported for analyses we recently conducted to examine the environmental effects of major \u27quality\u27 and \u27eco-labeling\u27 schemes in use in the Midi-Pyrenees region of the south of France. Schemes analyzed are described in the next section. Following that, the data and methods of analysis are explained. Next, results of statistical analyses are presented. These results are complemented by qualitative results drawn from in-depth case studies of three food quality schemes. Conclusions and policy implications are presented in the last section of the paper
