Cooperative creameries are not new institutions in South Dakota. Many of the early cooperative creameries are still in existence and doing a flourishing business. A great many have fallen by the wayside. The failures have been obstacles in organizing cooperative creameries where the conditions were right and the probability for success for such an organization was favorable. A cooperative creamery has for its principal objective the processing and marketing of the producers\u27 cream.
