Postive Discipline

This research study provides strategies in establishing positive discipline in kindergarten through eighth- grade classrooms by answering the key research question of: What are the most effective tools in establishing positive discipline in a K-8 classroom? Through the use of fieldwork observations in the San Francisco Bay Area, in a 6th-grade classroom, the researcher noted how different classroom management techniques affected the students. The researcher also studied three academic journals about ways to incorporate positive discipline in the classroom and how the students were affected by the change in classroom management. The researcher also read a book outlining the methods of discipline that guided research in creating strategies that promote and support positive discipline in all grades. The researcher found that bringing positive discipline into the classroom environment created a mutual respect between teachers and students, positive changes in behavior and discipline practices
