The purpose of this literature review is to examine the concept of the “Strong Black Woman” in relationship to the concept of feminism, to answer the question; Is there a feminist hidden inside the Strong Black Woman? The first goal is to gain an understanding of the meaning of “Strong Black woman” and the meaning of feminism the interconnectedness and differences of the two concepts. Secondly, to view feminism though the lens the of Black women, considering factors such as race and racial identity both public and privet, education economics, environment and geography to find how those perceived definitions are supported by family and social constructs.
