Problems relating to classroom demonstrations of classical conditioning, especially tendencies to misrepresent Pavlov\u27s procedures, are discussed. The design and construction of the Conditioner, an apparatus used for demonstrating classical conditioning, and guidelines for its use in presenting principles faithful to Pavlov\u27s original demonstration are described. Students experience the process of conditioning as well as the processes of generalization, extinction, discrimination, and spontaneous recovery
