The goal of this study was to develop an extension to the winding models which can convert the outputs of pressures and stresses to units that can be measured using existing quality control devices, the Rho meter in this case. The Rho meter makes dynamic measurement of the hardness of a wound roll. The peak deceleration of the Rho meter striker is measured and converted into arbitrary "Rho" units, which is a measure of hardness of the wound roll. Initially, experiments were conducted to study the variation of hardness in a wound roll as a function of winding tension and the roll outer radius.
