Simple science experiments for daily high school class demonstrations

Scope of Study: A collection of simple experiments that may be used in high school science classes for demonstrating various physical and chemical principles. The experiments are of the sensational type that tend to glamorize science and instill inquisitiveness in students, but cannot be used as a replacement of classical laboratory experiments. In most cases, simple equipment, such as found in the house has been used. The experiments have been designed so as to require a minimum of time to prepare. The terminology used in each experiment is such that little scientific background is needed to follow and understand the results. Each experiment has been divided into three parts for ease in reading, namely: material, procedure, and discussion. To make the experiments useful, two indexes have been provided; one is a list of experiments and the other a list of physical or chemical properties demonstrated by these experiments. The report consists of eighty-nine experiments which have been divided into six chapters, namely: PRESSURE AND VACUUM, HEAT AND COLD, CHEMICAL MAGIC, PROPERTIES OF MATTER, ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM, and LIGHT AND SOUND.Use of the Study: To supplement daily classroom discussions in science by the demonstrations of various experiments with inexpensive equipment
