This study is concerned with the analysis of the effect of the divalent europium ion on the mechanical properties of a specific alkali chloride, NaCl. The primary objective is to determine the strengthening of the NaCl single crystals as a function of the concentration of divalent europium and as a function of the quenching temperature. Several models of hardening are compared to the data which has been obtained.Physic
