Scope and Method of Study: This study examines the effects of a change in banking structure upon banks in Iowa and Arkansas in order to determine the possible effects of such a change upon Oklahoma banks. Five categories for comparison were identified including: bank office availability, concentration, allocation of credit, operating efficiency, and prices of services. Banking data relevant to these categories was examined over the 1967-1977 time period. Comparisons were made for data prior to and following the enactment of branch banking legislation in Iowa and Arkansas.
