My paper concerns a painting of a public garden – Kew Gardens, London, the Path to the Large Glass House (1892) – by the French painter Camille Pissarro (1830-1903). I discuss how, during his three-month stay at Kew, Pissarro engaged thoughtfully with the theme of people enjoying a garden
