A survey of all private, commercial, and quasi-public outdoor recreational facilities in the State was conducted by the New Jersey Department of Conservation and Economic Development. The main purpose of the survey was to provide information on the private sector of outdoor recreation in the State, to be used in the forthcoming "New Jersey Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan." Field survey assignments were made by county areas rather than forest and park regions. Each county was broken down into sectors with one individual being assigned the responsibility of conducting the survey within one or more sectors of a county.
