Field work and the analysis of published and statistical data led to the delineation of a range of cultural sub-regions of the Pinelands. These differ to such a degree that the Commission must be prepared to consider and implement site-specific planning strategies for each subregion. A composite of these regions creates the character of the Pinelands, which is established enough on its own that general policies can be described which pertain to planning in any region. These policies are described in the chapter entitled "General Pinelands Issues".
