Comparison of overlap between (Essex Fells) developed and Vacant land derived from TIGER and LANDSAT TM: Map

Map (Essex Fells) shows graphic and spatial relationships between TIGER and LANDSAT data.As the housing unit density threshold is increased, the amount of developed land detected by LANDSAT TM data exclusively decreases dramatically. When the 0.5 units/acre threshold is used, the TIGER data accounts for most of the developed land detected within the municipality. This can be attributed in part to the small amount of developed land detected with the LANDSAT TM data. The use of TIGER data alone would have been sufficient for detecting developed land within Essex Fells
