The purpose of this study is to provide quantitative information about the behavior of mercury and arsenic in New Jersey soils with respect to their adsorption, desorption, kinetics and transport. Mathematical models that are capable of predicting each of the processes will be developed and validated. These models can be used as managerial and regulatory tools by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) in the development of management practices to reduce soil and groundwater contamination and environmental cleanup.Environmental Engineering Program Department of Civil Engineering University of Delaware Newark, DE 19716 Project Manager Paul F.
