This report is the result of the 78th Annual Water Quality Survey of New York Harbor, performed by the NY Department of Environmental Protection during the summer of 1987 (June - September). The report describes patterns of ambient water quality in NY Harbor in 1987; documents compliance with New York State Standards; and depicts long-term trends in water quality, some dating back to 1909. Additions to the 1987 report include investigation of the impacts of the new North River and Red Hook water pollution control plants; increased interpretation of sediment metal data; inclusion of cyanide and boron results; depiction of the year when data was first collected at each station; and an executive summary.Purpose: To report the results of the 7...
