Inflammation, the common physiological response to a wide variety of injuries and irritations, has been studied in one form or another for literally thousands of years. Most non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) work by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins (PG) via inactivation or modification of the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme.
