New Jersey Lakes Management Program Lakes Classification Study: Lily Lake

This document contains the results from an intensive chemical sampling study of Lily Lake in Cape May Point, Cape May County. Water chemistry sampling studies conducted under the Department of Environmental Protection?s Lake Management Program determined approximately 30% of New Jersey?s lakes to be eutrophic. A program of more extensive sampling was recommended to establish the extent of eutrophication in New Jersey?s lakes, and to determine viable management strategies for improvement of water quality. This document details results from Lily Lake, one of the 25 priority lake systems identified for further study. The report states that Lily Lake displays many of the classical symptoms of a waterbody in the later stages of eutrophication which has deleterious cultural and environmental impacts.
