The Hudson Basin Project was a three-year effort to examine the principal environmental problems and issues of the New York metropolitan area and the Hudson River watershed. This task group report, Land Use/Human Settlement, focuses on: assessing existing conditions and general characteristics of land use and patterns of human settlement in the Hudson Basin region; assessing previous efforts undertaken to ascertain basic relationships between land use, settlement patterns, and environmental quality; and determining the applicability of salient principles of land use and environmental quality control to regional patterns of human settlement.Purpose: To assess existing conditions and general characteristics of land use and patterns of human ...
