New Jersey Riparian Rights Handbook

This handbook uses the term "riparian rights" to describe the rights of landowners abutting on tide-flowed lands, rather than those of landowners situated adjacent to any watercourse. The focus of the handbook is directed to the process of conveying property interests in tide-flowed lands; however, related but distiguishable rules and considerations apply to the subsequent development of such property. The handbook is divided into nine sections: Glossary of Terms; Fund for the Support of Free Public Schools, which clarifies the relationship between the School Fund and the riparian land management system; Public Trust Doctrine; Ecological Considerations; Riparian Statutes; Riparian Cases; Title Studies and Surveys; Appraisals; and Procedures. There is also a lengthy appendix, including application forms.The costs of printing this publication were provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
