Water supply purveyors provide, operate and maintain water supply lines and treatment plants that provide potable water supplies to residential, industrial and commercial uses. They are called "public water supply systems" but can be publicly-owned or investor-owned. Such facilities can play a significant role in watershed management. This paper attempts to define some roles of public water supply systems, as a starting point for discussions in the stakeholder process. The Project Team hopes that this paper will improve the understanding by these stakeholders of the roles they and others play in this important venture.
