The seventh volume of the Final Report of the State Geologist presents the results of a study of iron ore, mines and mining in New Jersey. It was written with the aim of presenting in a single publication the major facts known concerning the distribution and manner of occurrence or iron ores of the state. Many of the mines in the state that were formerly worked have been lost sight of and others have changed names. For these reasons it has seemed desirable that the information contained in the older reports be examined and its essential features be correlated with the results of later investigations.
