Policy on the Relocation of Wildlife

The Division of Fish and Wildlife has a responsibility, as the administering agency for the wildlife resource in New Jersey, to ensure that human activities relating to the movement and release of wildlife do not negatively affect human health and safety, agriculture and local wildlife populations. This document outlines the policy that sets the standards for release of all species. It considers both biological and social issues, which affect the selection of a release site. The document includes the following sections: Policy Background; General Release Criteria ? Nuisance Wildlife and Rehabilitated Wildlife; Specific Guidelines ? Amphibians and Reptiles, Birds, Mammals, Deer, Bears, Wild Canines, Felines, Beaver and Otter, and Rabies Vector Species.Purpose: To outline the Division of Fish & Wildlife policy that sets the standards for release of all wildlife species in New Jersey
